FRAMING FAQs

  • How long will it take?
    We aim to have your frame completed within two to three weeks, but if there is something urgent, then we will do our best to meet your needs – just let us know!
  • Is there a price list?
    All our frames are handcrafted and tailored to your individual project and preferred spend. There are literally thousands of options to choose from when it comes to framing from rare woods, state of the art glazing, museum level framing and one off custom designs. And the pricing varies accordingly. However, we know that many of our new customers would like to have a figure in mind before they come in for a consultation. And that's where our 'Pricing Made Simple' program comes in! So, check out our pricing program which is suitable for most photographs, original paintings and print works here ahead of a visit. This allows you to tailor your framing project as you go and with no surprises at the end!
  • Where can I view your terms and conditions?
    You can read our Terms and Conditions here. If you have any questions, please let us know! Framing Terms and Conditions A 50% deposit must be paid on all framing orders before work can begin. Unfortunately, we no longer accept cheques, and all framing work must be paid in full before the art work can be taken home. We will give you an estimated date of collection, and contact you within three days of that estimated date to confirm a collection date. If you require a piece by a certain date, please let our framer know in advance so we can make sure your art work is ready for you when you need it. We ask that all art work be collected no later than one month after its confirmed collection date. If we have no contact from you after 3 months, artwork will be stored off site at your own risk. We reserve the right to sell uncollected art work after 12 months to recoup our costs. The Hallows Gallery does not offer framing services for any artwork with an individual value of £25,000 or more. For pieces worth £1,000 or more, we will photograph and keep an inventory of those works while they remain in our care. This will be removed from our inventory once work has been collected. In the unlikely event of theft or destruction of your art work whilst in our care, you will be compensated up to the current market value of the piece – as is the custom throughout the framing industry. In the unlikely event of damage to your artwork whilst under our care, we will appoint an independent valuation service to evaluate the financial impact, if any, that has been caused. Liability will be limited to the amount specified by that valuation service or the cost of restoration by a professional art restorer appointed by The Hallows Gallery – whichever is less. We are unable to provide compensation for loss of enjoyment or distress and inconvenience.
  • Why not just buy a ready made frame from a shop?
    You can pick up a pre-fabricated MDF or compressed cardboard frame at many furniture retailers. And it will cost you buttons. But, MDF frames are not designed to be permanent or with your artwork in mind – this is why they can be sold so cheaply. They tend not to do anything to improve the aesthetics of your work and can make the overall piece look cheap. They don’t last the test of time, while at the same time offering minimal protection to your artwork. In some cases, the materials used can actually be harmful to your artwork. But at The Hallows Gallery, all of our frames are made with real wood. We work mainly with solid oak, ash, and maple and can stain and finish these in-house to your exact requirements. All our timber is acquired from responsibly managed sources. You will end up with a frame that is hand crafted and designed specifically for your artwork. It will enhance and protect your piece for years to come.
